A Thoughtful Reflection on the Symbolism of Fashion

What I See: The Messages in a First Lady’s Style
In high-profile spaces, the mainstream media often walks a fine line, avoiding bold statements that might provoke controversy or backlash.
While magazines like Vogue or Newsweek described Melania Trump’s coat in detail highlighting its structured shoulders, double-breasted front, and somber tone, they refrained from explicitly pointing to the historical or militaristic inspiration behind its design. The parallels between this coat and military greatcoats of the 1930s and 1940s, particularly those from Nazi Germany, are difficult to ignore.
A Unique Lens
Some may see my perspective as audacious and provocative. But I approach these topics with a unique lens shaped by my upbringing. Born into a world of programming and analysis, In the early 70ties when I was a little girl I watched my father create systems using perforated cards to computerize the treasury and post office. Thoughtfully.
This foundation instilled in me the courage to ask questions and analyze what others might choose to overlook or remain silent.
I see every thing in codes language, to me Fashion is a language of influence, and the choices we make, especially at the highest levels, carry weight.
Today, as someone deeply involved in skin microtreatment and healing, I see patterns everywhere whether in the human body or in fashion and I am unafraid to address them,
interpreting symbolism at work.
Adam Lippes, the designer of Melania Trump’s coat, is no ordinary creative. With a degree in psychology, Lippes brings a profound understanding of human behavior.

With a combination of psychological insight and high-profile design confirms that nothing about this ensemble would have been unintentional.
"What I See, What I Hear, What I Understand"
"A calculated statement, whether conscious or subconscious. At this level, nothing is left to subjective interpretation."
The Symbolism of the Coat
The coat in question features a design reminiscent of military greatcoats from Nazi Germany, particularly those worn by officers during the 1930s and 1940s. Key elements include:
Double-Breasted Front: A hallmark of military uniforms, symbolizing authority and formality.
ce
Structured Silhouette: Sharp shoulders and tailored lines project dominance and power.
Contrasting White Collar: A stark detail often seen in uniforms meant to evoke precision and discipline.
Fashion, especially at this level of visibility, is never accidental. It encodes messages through its design, silhouette, and color. While some may only see a well-made coat, I see the shadows of history subtly woven into its seams.
Why This Matters
Addressing these parallels openly and thoughtfully is not an act of accusation but an exercise in reflection. Perhaps my journey through healing has taught me that one has nothing to lose by asking hard questions, but everything to gain in understanding and growth. Fashion is a powerful tool—it shapes culture and reflects values, often in ways we do not immediately recognize. By analyzing these choices, we uncover layers of influence and intent that ripple beyond the surface.
I hope to inspire others to look beyond the artistry and aesthetics of fashion and consider the deeper messages encoded within. Fashion should empower and innovate—not evoke echoes of conformity, control, or a past many strive to leave behind.
