As Marc and Khonshu discuss their options, the Egyptian deity to the skies to send a message to the other gods in the hopes that they'll listen to his pleas.

Khonshu had run-ins with the gods previously, but it's apparent that he's on borrowed time. Through a portal, Marc gets transported to the meeting place for fellow avatars inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. We got to see a moment of Steven fangirling over this; however, Marc didn't seem to share Steven's enthusiasm.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[250,250],'ginx_tv-leader-2','ezslot_13',146,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-ginx_tv-leader-2-0');if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[250,250],'ginx_tv-leader-2','ezslot_14',146,'0','1']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-ginx_tv-leader-2-0_1');.leader-2-multi-146border:none!important;display:block!important;float:none!important;line-height:0;margin-bottom:15px!important;margin-left:auto!important;margin-right:auto!important;margin-top:15px!important;max-width:100%!important;min-height:250px;min-width:250px;padding:0;text-align:center!importantMarc Spector and Khonshu summoned a meeting with the avatars of the Egyptian gods inside the Great Pyramid of Giza. (Picture: Marvel Studios)During this meeting, we again learned why the gods preferred not to interfere with the woes of man, much like we saw in Eternals. The gods completely abandoned humanity; Khonshu didn't, as they continued to allow their avatars to progress with their agendas.In a moment that brought some comic relief while showcasing the amazing talent possessed by its lead, Oscar Isaac, Khonshu uses Marc as a conduit to speak to the gods, thus accusing Harrow of trying to revive Ammit. Harrow gets summoned before turning the tables on Marc/Khonshu, citing that Marc has been mistreated by the god, gaining the upper hand and leaving Marc/Khonshu dejected.They did receive some help from Hathor's avatar, Yatzil, that they need to find Senfu's sarcophagus. Senfu was the only person that knew of the location of Ammit's tomb as he recorded the eventuality that the gods had changed their minds.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[250,250],'ginx_tv-leader-4','ezslot_19',147,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-ginx_tv-leader-4-0');if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[250,250],'ginx_tv-leader-4','ezslot_20',147,'0','1']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-ginx_tv-leader-4-0_1');.leader-4-multi-147border:none!important;display:block!important;float:none!important;line-height:0;margin-bottom:15px!important;margin-left:auto!important;margin-right:auto!important;margin-top:15px!important;max-width:100%!important;min-height:250px;min-width:250px;padding:0;text-align:center!important

Not only did Senfu take Ammit's tomb location to his death, but his sarcophagus was recently sold on the black market. Enter Layla, who decided to help Marc find the sarcophagus but only to stop Harrow as they travel to the home of a fellow antiquities collector, Anton Mogart.if(typeof ez_ad_units!='undefined')ez_ad_units.push([[468,60],'ginx_tv-large-mobile-banner-2','ezslot_12',148,'0','0']);__ez_fad_position('div-gpt-ad-ginx_tv-large-mobile-banner-2-0');

As a cranky, rude god desperate to stop Ammit, but also fearful of being imprisoned by his fellow deities, "desperate old bird" Khonshu took some big risks this week. At times, Khonshu plays like a villain, even the type of baddie who could be the story's final adversary. He uses Marc's feelings for Layla as leverage, forcing him to be his avatar. Much like Ammit's use of Harrow, it's a very "ends justify the means" methodology. Khonshu is singularly focused on stopping Ammit from being resurrected and he does some wild sky tricks this week in order to try and make a citizen's arrest on Harrow.

Still, it made for a very exciting end for the episode and it sets up a rather hopeless situation for our heroes going forward without Khonshu to protect them. Marc -- well, Steven as we leave things -- and Layla must try to thwart Harrow and his cultists on their own. It bodes better for Layla than Steven, of course, since this episode saw her more than handle herself in dangerous spots. She's not a mercenary, but the opening scene, which was all Layla's, laid out her background a bit as a tomb raider-type, raised at her father's dig sites all over the world, cut from the cloth of a Lara Croft or an Indiana Jones. One of the best parts of this episode involved all the new facets of Layla we were introduced to. When she approached Steven in the desert, after Marc relinquished the body, and truly saw Steven for the first time as a separate part of Marc and not just for the sake of comedic befuddlement, it made for a sweet moment.

Moon Knight Episode 3 is our clearest tease yet for another one of Marc Spector's personalities. At this point fans almost unanimously agree that it will be "Jake Lockley," the investigator/spy alias of Marc Spector. In the comics, Lockley is a street-smart gruff type who creates an entire spy network of street-level informants. The MCU Lockely seems like a Bond/Bourne hybrid who is as suave with the ladies (see: Episode 1) as he is brutal to his foes (see: Episode 3). 59ce067264
