Where To Buy Zoya Nail Polish In Nyc [PORTABLE]

To choose the best pregnancy-safe nail polish, we looked for brands that were at minimum 5-free to ensure they had few potentially irritating or harmful ingredients. They also had to be highly rated by the What to Expect community and shoppers, and receive positive reviews about the color, ease of application and longevity.

Olive & June nail polish is 7-free, as well as vegan and cruelty-free, making it an appealing choice for moms looking to avoid potentially harmful ingredients. But unlike other vegan beauty products, which can be hit or miss, these polishes apply beautifully and look gorgeous. You can also find them in over 100 shades to match your mood (or outfit).

Stuck in a nail polish rut of baby pinks and crimson reds? Then why not shake things up this summer with the shade du jour: purple. Whether you choose to go with a low-key lilac or find yourself brave enough to sport neon grape, we're almost certain you'll be sorry to see summer go so soon.

All that pizzazz: While the idea of a frosty nail polish might conjure images of bad middle-school style choices, nothing about NYC's Purple Pizzazz Frost says fashion blunder. A nice dark shade of plum, this polish has a finish that is more edgy metallic than froufrou frosty. NYC Nail Polish in Purple Pizzazz Frost, 99 cents, widely available at drugstores and mass-market stores.

Bright on: One of the top brands in nail polish, OPI, has a new collection called Brights for OPI that features a shade of purple sure to help make the transition from summer to fall a breeze. With a jolt of color just right for those warm-weather hues, OPI's Purple With a Purpose is a deeper shade that will easily complement those fall colors you have stored away in your closet. Brights for OPI nail polish in Purple With a Purpose, $8.50, available at Ulta.

Never say never: Part of Justin Bieber's "One Less Lonely Girl" collection for Nicole by OPI, this shade of perfect purple nail polish is called "I'm a Belieber." It's a trendy color that anyone can wear -- we won't tell if you're not 18 and a self-professed "Belieber" yourself. Nicole by OPI nail polish in I'm a Belieber, $7, available at drugstores and Ulta.

Eco chic: A long-wearing polish minus the harmful substances, the glittery polish from Zoya is as good for your nails as it is for you and the environment. This polish in the color Dannii is a great accessory, along with your gold gladiators and tan. Zoya nail polish in Dannii, $7, available at Ulta and online at www.zoya.com.

In the sky with diamonds: A beautiful shade of lilac, this light purple polish -- called Purple Diamond -- looks like it has been infused with, yes, diamonds (minus the cost). So whether you find yourself by the beach or out on the town, your fingers are sure to sparkle everywhere you go. Sinful Colors nail polish in Purple Diamond, $1.99, available at drugstores and at www.sinfulcolors.com.

Ready, polish, go: The perfect polish (and color) for the girl who is always on the go, Sally Hansen's Insta-Dri Nail Color in Lively Lilac is your go-to polish for those last minute getaways or when you just don't have an hour to spend on your nails. Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in Lively Lilac, $4.54, available at drugstores, mass-market stores and Ulta.

Playing nice: This light lavender shade from Essie is perfect for the woman who wants to try something new without going too far out of her comfort zone. Paired with a white summer dress, this polish makes for absolute summer (and style) perfection. Essie nail polish in Nice Is Nice, $7.79, available at drugstores, Ulta and at www.essie.com.

But "clean" polish is really about the inhalation risk, so even though some of the chemicals (like camphor and acetone) in lacquers are probably fine on your nails, it's still not a good idea to breathe them in large quantities. One of the best things you can do, says Rieder, is paint your nails in well-ventilated areas.

And if you prefer to play it super-safe and avoid ingredients you've heard nasty yet unproven rumors about, many brands are ready to fill that need with lacquers that aren't filled with some of the most unrequested ingredients. Here are some of our favorite extra-cautious, nontoxic nail polishes.

The olive green shade seen here, Win Me Over, is one of the brand's countless colors made without formaldehyde, toluene, dibutyl phthalate, formaldehyde resin, camphor, ethyl tosylamide, xylene, and triphenyl phosphate, all of which actually used to be in some nail polishes.

OPI has figured out how to make its beloved nail polish in a long-lasting formula with plant- and mineral-based ingredients. Nature Strong Natural Origin Lacquer comes in 30 shades (like the lovely mauve Knowledge Is Flower seen here), all of which are nine-free and topped off with a cap made with 20 percent post-consumer recycled plastic.

You'll wonder why more brands aren't switching to mostly vegetable biomass for their nail-polish ingredients when you see how long Pacifica Plant Magic Polish lasts, even without a top or basecoat. The brand upgraded and replaced its 7 Free Nail Color with this 16-free formula, and while there aren't as many shades as before, the 21 that are available, like the dreamy Blue Moon seen here, are too good to not make a part of your manicure wardrobe.

If you've ever had the opportunity to visit one of Sundays' New York City studios, you know that even the experience itself feels nontoxic. Its simplicity and chill vibes carry over into the brand's vegan, 10-free nail polish formula, which is regularly being reimagined in new colors. Among the latest: a trio of shades in collaboration with yoga superstar Tara Stiles, including the gorgeous Create shade seen here.

There are good habits and bad habits, but there are no bad Habit nail polishes. In addition to the brand's many shades of Habit Non-Toxic + Vegan Nail Polish (like Tan Lines here) being free of toluene, formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, camphor, TPP, DBP, isobutylphenoxy epoxy resin, xylene, and parabens, its packaging is thoughtful, too: a removable bamboo cap, recycled plastic inner cap, and recycled plastic brush.

Just as impressive as what's omitted from Dermelect's Me collection of nail lacquers (including the vibrant shade Power Trip, shown here) is what's included. Touted as equal parts color and treatment, it features a protein peptide for strengthening. Having peptides in nail polish is definitely unique, but not all that surprising coming from a skin-care brand. And if they take the place of ingredients like formaldehyde resin, we're all for it.

The founder of Suite Eleven launched the brand when she realized certain cosmetic ingredients were causing allergic reactions, so needless to say, unnecessary and unwelcome ingredients are nowhere to be found in this nail lacquer. The vegan, 10-free polishes are made in small batches, so some patience is required if the color you're after (say, NY Who? right here) is currently sold out, but it's absolutely worth the wait for the gorgeous, glossy finish.

Deborah Lippman Gel Lab Pro is an Allure Best of Beauty winner not just because it's seven-free (this time, the wild-card seventh ingredient is diethylhexyl adipate), but because of the ingredients it does include to make this nail polish ones of the closest things you can get to a gel manicure without the light. The color seen here, Love at First Sight, is a total classic.

LVX Nail Lacquer is easily one of the most chic formulas on our list, proving nail polish brands can be simultaneously cool and conscious. Dahlia, the sultry burgundy seen here, is missing 10 unwanted ingredients but full of inspiration from designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Comme De Garcons.

Fun fact: There are about 400 shades of Zoya Professional Lacquer. Even more fun fact: Each one is missing the five most frowned-upon nail polish ingredients: formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, formaldehyde resin, and camphor.

Pacifica's polish is void of sixteen toxins, long-lasting and is 100-percent vegan. Its flat brush is super easy to use and gives great coverage in just a couple swipes. "The vegan, plant based formula is free of toxic additives, but still glides onto nails easily, without clumping, bubbles or streaking," says one Ulta reviewer. "The polish lasted almost a week without needing a touch up."

Orosa's nail lacquer bottles up all the good things: a quick-dry formula, week-long wear and fresh color. The vegan and cruelty-free formula is made without 14 controversial ingredients. "This polish went on so easily and dried so quick," shares one reviewer from Orosa's site.

Besides being vegan and cruelty-free, Sundays' 10-free polish makes your DIY manicure a breeze thanks to it's easy-to-use brush for a fuss-free application. "I love that the nail polish glides on easily and you only need two coats," shares one Sundays reviewer. "I found it to dry quickly and didn't chip as easily."

Available in a variety of colors and finishes, Smith & Cult's chip-resistant formula goes on super shiny. For an opaque finish, apply two coats. All are vegan, cruelty-free and filled with their 8-free formula. "It is absolutely worth the money," shares one reviewer on Smith & Cult's website. "It lasted longer than any other polish I've used. I'm rough on my nails but this lasted 10 days before I had my first chip."

These chic bottles house a polish that eliminates the bad (acetone, parabens and eight controversial ingredients), and replaces it with some good (essential oils, vitamin E and aloe) to keep nails healthy and strong. Fun fact: Each shade of tenoverten nail lacquer is named after the streets of New York, home to the two founders of the brand. "I managed to get a professional look at home with this polish," shares one Target reviewer, while another says "This is the only nail polish that stays on my nails for a really long time." 041b061a72
